As I mark the 20th anniversary of starting up It’s Your Day in the wedding and event industry, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that has brought me here. From humble beginnings to becoming a trusted name in creating memorable celebrations, my story is one of passion, dedication, and the countless relationships i’ve built along the way.
A Journey of Love and Creativity
Twenty years ago huge life events happened, I lost my mum and my marriage broke down. I was working at the time within the computer industry, my work taking me across England on occasions whilst still maintaining a home with two children - I was happy. As I'm sure lots of you can relate losing a parent is a real eye opener, you stand back and take stock of everything and realise life is so precious - it has to be filled with crazy experiences, dreams and memories. And so my new journey began. Now a single mum of a 10 and 12 year old I needed to figure out what I enjoyed and was naturally pretty good at? The conclusion being an eye for colour and design. I envisioned a company that would transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences so, starting off very small and without any financial assistance, It’s Your Day was born. A two day balloon course and a friend working in a local venue got me my first few jobs and from there, growing year on year into the full blown decorating service it has become today. It hasn’t been plain sailing, there were several times at the beginning where I was tempted to get back on the PAYE ladder.
Milestones and Memories
Over the years, I’ve had the honor of being part of numerous love stories and celebrations. Each event has been unique, reflecting the personalities and dreams of my clients. As the company name suggests “It’s Your Day” main focus was and always is on them. I’ve adorned venues with everything from dreamy draping to bespoke décor, ensuring every detail contributes to the magic of the moment.
My most memorable stylings have of course been my children’s weddings. Being part of one of the most important days of their lives. You think you know your kids but there are always surprises, hidden likes and dislikes that come to the surface. The stress relief I was able to give them with my experience, knowledge and flare gave such an appreciation from all sides. In a way it bought us all closer. To see it all come together and the look on their faces makes it all worthwhile - not only creating my memories but playing a major role in theirs.
I would also like thank my clients for voting for me and making It’s Your Day a winner at the Westcountry Wedding Awards upon the very first year of entering. This was such a boost for both myself and the business.

Our success over the past two decades is a testament to my unwavering commitment to excellence. I’ve continually sought to innovate, staying abreast of the latest trends while honoring timeless traditions. I have a small team of talented and dedicated people who are always on hand to ensure that every event we touch is executed flawlessly, with meticulous attention to detail.

As I celebrate this significant milestone, I’m filled with gratitude for the trust my clients have placed in me and my team. Your stories, dreams, and celebrations have been the driving force behind my passion. Looking forward, I’m excited to continue this journey, embracing new challenges and opportunities to create beauty and joy in the lives of all you lovely people.
